2024 was full of inspiring challenges and incredible achievements for the United Eagles Cycling Team. Below are detailed reports of some of the key events our riders took part in.
Tomasz Sobkowiak – Ride Across Britain & Rapha Manchester to London
• Rapha Manchester to London: On 23rd June 2024 Tomasz took part in an event organised in partnership with Ambitious About Autism, cycling from Manchester to London. The distance of over 350km in one day was a huge challenge, which Tomasz completed with impressive results.
• Ride Across Britain: Tomasz took part in an epic journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats, covering over 1500km. This nine-day journey was a test of endurance and determination, and Tomasz completed it successfully, representing our club with pride.
London-Amsterdam Expedition
Four daredevils from our club – Filip, Piotr, Tomasz and Seweryn – took on the challenge of an ultra-distance expedition from London to Amsterdam. The route of approximately 568 km was full of challenges, including changing weather conditions and the need for precise logistical planning. Thanks to mutual support and determination, all four reached their destination, strengthening club ties and gaining invaluable experience.
Piotr Mikołajczak – 500 km Conquest
Inspired by the route of the London “Gladiators”, Piotr took on the solo challenge of covering 500 km in one day. He began his journey a few minutes after eight in the morning, equipped with the necessary supplies and great determination. The route led through various terrains, and Piotr had to face both physical and mental challenges. His achievement is proof that passion and preparation allow you to exceed your own limits.
Piotr Meller – Ironman Vitoria-Gasteiz
Piotr took part in the full Ironman distance in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. Together with his training partner Neil and other triathletes from Portsmouth, Piotr had been preparing for this challenge for many months. The competition included 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling and 42.2 km of running. Thanks to determination and solid preparation, Piotr completed the competition with a satisfactory result, confirming his versatility as an athlete.
Daniel Frączek – Gravmagedon 2024
Daniel participated in the Gravmagedon competition, which took place on August 2, 2024. The route led through the picturesque areas of the Karkonosze and Jizera Mountains, offering both beautiful views and challenging sections. This competition was a test of riding skills on varied terrain, and Daniel, thanks to his experience and passion for gravel cycling, successfully completed it.
Seweryn Cieślik – Ring of a Thousand Lakes
Seweryn took part in the “Ring of a Thousand Lakes” ultramarathon, which takes place in the picturesque areas of Warmia and Mazury. Participants can choose routes from 140 to 610 km, and Seweryn decided to take on one of the longer distances. This challenge required not only excellent physical condition, but also the ability to plan and cope with any difficulties along the way. Seweryn finished the race with an impressive result, adding another achievement to his sports achievements.
Each of these achievements is proof of the passion, determination and commitment of the members of the United Eagles Cycling Team. Their successes inspire us all to take on new challenges and strive for excellence in the world of cycling.
