We had a fantastic day on Sunday, with WOŚP London and the Polska Grupa Rowerowa (PGR) at the finale of the “Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy” in the heart of London. As soon as we appeared at the White Eagle Club in Balham, we were warmly welcomed by the organizers and other participants of the event. The goal was to cycle through the streets of London, creating a GPS trace in the shape of a big heart, symbolizing our solidarity and support for those in need.
It started with a vigorous warm-up and joyful shouts of “SIEMA”, after which a group of about 90 two-wheel enthusiasts headed towards Hyde Park. The crowded and congested London did not dampen our enthusiasm. Loud music and smiling faces made drivers and pedestrians react positively, honking and clapping at our sight.
At the planned break in Hyde Park, a group of volunteers with delicious EF Bakers pastries and hot drinks awaited us. The company and sunny weather completed the perfect afternoon. There were also attractions such as auctions of items and a television interview.
The second part of the route led through the iconic Tower Bridge, where we didn’t miss the opportunity for souvenir photos.
At the finish line of the “heart” at the White Eagle Club, it was still bustling, and the music and smells of delicious food filled the air. It was a very successful day among wonderful people and we are proud that we could be a part of it.
We would like to thank the organizers and participants for the joint ride, especially those who “kept our wheel” ;).
We hope that there will be more opportunities to ride together, not only charitably but also socially and competitively. YO!
