This year, the last race of the UCI Gran Fondo series took place – Tour of Cambridgeshire 2023 edition. Unfortunately, it will disappear from UK’s calendar of cycling events for good. Our team decided to take part in this event in a very large group, and many of the boys have even set themselves the goal of being in the best shape for this day.
The characteristic feature of this race has always been a flat and fast route profile. This year was no exception. The route was just shy of 110 km and only 624 m of elevation gain. The competitors competed according to age categories, hence our team had representatives in several categories.
Each race in the UCI Gran Fondo series also serves as a qualifying round for the final event, which will be held in Scotland this year. Hence even greater interest in this year’s event. To qualify, the competitor had to achieve a time that placed the competitor in the first 20% of all competitors in a given category. Three of our UECT team representatives qualified for this year’s final: Grzegorz Gacek, Kazimierz Ryś and Rafał Rutkowicz. Big congratulations to those three and to all the others who fought equally bravely!
